My 16 year old received a 1099NEC. He does not have a business. Does he need to do a schedule C? His total income with W2 and 1099 is less than $2500

He received the 1099-NEC from a non-profit little league for helping with maintenance and landscaping.  Right now it is telling me he owes federal taxes, which confuses me as he made less that $2500, between this 1099 and 2 W2's he got.

When you report the 1099-NEC say that the income is not for a business to avoid self employment tax. Don’t forget to check the box saying that someone else can claim him.
