It is always better to wait a bit before filing. Tax laws for each state change each year and even though the IRS is now accepting tax returns, there are still many federal forms that have not been finalized yet. If you have those forms in your return, you can't file yet. There are many states that can't be filed yet as well. So, even though TurboTax likes to send out lots of emails telling you to file early, it is not always the best course of action, especially if your return has tax topics that are not updated yet.
I would never ever file in January considering most form issuers have until 01/31 to send out forms. Late February, early March are much better options to ensure all federal and state forms are updated and finalized by the taxing authorities (IRS and state revenue offices).
Form PTC, Property Tax Incentive Act Credit for this tax year, 2021 is available now however. Here is a link to see all of the Nebraska forms and when they will be ready to go!
