Hi,

We got our mortgage last 2019. We applied for MCC and when 2020 comes in, the person who helped us file our taxes, she added the MCC. 

This year, we're trying to file our taxes on our own without our friend's help and that is why I'm reaching out here for some assistance. 

Do we need to add the MCC every year during filing of taxes? or is it only done on the year after you got the mortgage which is only applicable to 2020 filing?

No, you don't need to add the 2020 MCC.   If you were unable to use the full $2000 credit in 2020, it would have been carried over to 2021.   You could carry forward the credit for 3 years if you were unable to use it all in 2020.
