Marriage and buying a house

My boyfriend and I just got married on February 8th. We brought a house thru the VA since he was in the army . We both signed the papers but I was told to sign using my maiden name. How should we file our taxes next year?

Hi @dburr7409 , if you were married during the year, you have 2 options to married filing jointly or married filing separately.  The way you file depends on your status at the end of the tax year.  Even though you are married you may choose to file separately if the pros outweigh the cons.  I am attaching a helpful link that explains why married couples may choose to file separate.
