Mailing address for CA 2022 amended returns

Hi,

I had to amend my 2022 returns because I missed adding a 1099-DIV (which I realized while preparing for 2023 returns). I amended the returns through TurboTax and it generated a paper copy to be mailed.

As per TurboTax, I should mail it to:

Franchise Tax Board
PO Box 942867
Sacramento, CA 94240-0001

On checking https://www.ftb.ca.gov/help/contact/mailing-addresses.html, above address seemed to be the one mentioned as "With payment". Since I have already payed the amount through online portal, do I still need to send it to this address?

OR

should I send it to the address mentioned as "Without payment" on ftb site:

Franchise Tax Board
PO Box 942840
Sacramento CA 94240-0001

What does "With payment" mean?

  1. You owe money (and doesn't matter if you paid it online) OR
  2. You owe money and including a check for that with the tax return

Thank you for the help.

Mailing address for CA 2022 amended returns

The "with payment" is looking for a check and has the staff to handle that extra paperwork. Mailing to either one is acceptable but mailing to "without payment " is probably your best option. Paying online was the smart choice.
