Lived in one state and worked in two

I lived in Texas all of last year, but my work situation was pretty complicated. I worked remotely for a California based university for one month. Then I was unemployed and receiving benefits for a few months. Then I worked for a Texas based organization…..how do I file my taxes? If I want expert help, what are my options?

Texas doesn't have a state income tax, so you don't have to worry about filing a Texas return.  Even though you worked for a California company, because you worked remotely from Texas, you don't have to file a California tax return.  However, if California taxes were withheld from your pay, you will need to file a California non-resident return in order to get a refund.  For information on the options available from a TurboTax expert, click on  TurboTax Live
