Why the drivers license information needed? Can I discontinue this phase of the filing process while I obtain my spouses drivers license information without having to go?

It's not necessary to file, but it is an added measure of security provided by the IRS to cut down on fraudulent activities. If you are having issues with providing the information, you can leave it blank or select "I don't have these ID's"
