At the end tax was popped and can't fixed what this?

- You can't file just yet. This may mean a better tax outcome for taxpayers like you who have 2024 Qualified Disaster Distributions. We can keep working on your tax return and we'll let you know when we can help you finish up your taxes.

Thank for help!

If you were in a Federally declared disaster area in 2024, you would have been allowed to remove up to $22,000 from a retirement plan penalty-free and spread the taxes over three years.  If you did elect to do this, you would need to report 1/3 of the withdrawal in 2024, 2025 and 2026 using Form 8915-F.

If this does apply to you:

  1. Go back to the Income section in the Federal tab and select Add/Edit for IRA, 401(k) and pension plan withdrawals.
  2. Click Done on the 1099-R summary page
  3. "Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2025??" will be on the next screen.  If you did take a disaster distribution select Yes  (if you didn't take a disaster distribution in a prior year, select no and you'll be done.
  4. TurboTax will guide you through the rest of the information that may be needed.  If you filed with TurboTax in 2024, much of the information should be pre-populated from you 2024 return.

The message you had received was due to the form not being available at that time, but it is available now so that you will be able to file your return.
