I made an error not checking the box that I can be claimed as a dependent which is preventing my Fathers taxes from being excepted.

you have to file an amended return which can take 4 to 6 weeks (or longer) to process. If your father wants to file timely without an extension it will have to be mailed/postmarked by Monday midnight. He can file an extension; pay any balance due; (the same time frame applies) wait for your amended return to be fully processed and then see if he can e-file.
