In TT Premier desktop as I do my Iowa return, I note there is no place to enter federal taxes paid in 2023 for TY 2022 or prior. When Iowa transitioned to new forms this year, they made 2023 a "transition" year, allowing such deduction (or addition for last year's refund) only in the 2023 tax year.
Indeed, when I call up the IA 1040 in the "forms" page, line 18 of page 4 is hard-coded as a zero, and cannot even be overridden.
As it happens, my return shows zero Iowa tax even without this deduction, so I will file it as prepared and the end result will be correct. But in light of such a significant error that has apparently been uncorrected for the entire filing season, I have to seriously doubt whether to trust Turbotax in future years.
