Invalid controll number on my w-2?

Control numbers are created an issued by the online service your employer pays to do their payroll, taxes and W-2's. So if it's invalid, there's nothing TurboTax can do about that. In the time it would take you to deal with this, you can just enter your W-2 manually multiple times over. So just leave the control number box blank in the program, and press on.

It's too early to try to import a W-2 since they won't be made available for import until after Jan 31 or later when payroll services that partner with TurboTax  make them available.
