International Organization 1099 NEC Resident card holder

Hi, I work in an international organization (Organization of American States) and I am a resident card holder. I found different post but it caused some confusion. Please find below the question:

1. As we don't have w-2 do we need to add this?

2. report your earnings as wages but are not subject to self-employment taxes: How can I do that? Where can I report my income but avoid to self-employment taxes?

3. Would you help me step by step how and where add my 1099 NEC

Thank you in advance

International Organization 1099 NEC Resident card holder

The 1099-NEC that you received from the International Organization as a Resident card holder is not considered self-employment. It can be entered as other income without having to pay self-employed taxes.

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account.
  2. Click on Federal Taxes tab.
  3. Choose Wages and Income.
  4. Scroll down to Other Common Income
  5. Select 1099 -NEC
  6. Enter the 1099 NEC information'
  7. Then it asks for a description of the income. Give it the proper description. Income from International Organization as Resident Alien
  8. When you reach a page that says Does one of these uncommon situations apply?
  9. Select This is not money earned as an employee or self-employed individual, it is from a sporadic activity or hobby (this is not common).
  10. This will then be taxed as common income and not business income.

Even though the payment was related to your occupation, this will not be considered self-employment.
