Income tax paid difference from state withholding on W2

The amount of your Taxes You Paid or state income tax deduction on your Schedule A, (Itemized Deductions) is usually higher than the amount of state income taxes withheld on your W-2 because of disability and unemployment insurance. State disability insurance and unemployment insurance is usually listed in Box 14 of your W-2 and is included in the total state income taxes paid figure.
