Im HOH filling status but when I start state filling from California ask about my son he has income of 7,000

single father not married my son 22 yrs student full time with income of 7,000 I live in California state,, my question is will change my filling status?

There is no income limit for qualifying children; your son could have made $70,000, and you can still claim him as a dependent.   Your 22-year-old son that is also a full-time student is your qualifying child dependent.   You can claim your son and qualifying for Head of Household status on both your federal and California tax returns.   To update your filing status, click on My Info from the left side panel.     Head of Household requirements

 

Dependent Requirements - He should be listed on both of your returns.   You have to have a dependent entered to claim head of household filing status.
