If filing jointly, are all the questions for Both people? Or do they do one person first, and then have the same questions for the second person?

My husband has a W-2 and I have a 1099-NEC and have no idea when to answer for my 1099. It told me we would get to that later, but it doesn't specify which person I'm answering for.

If you are filing a joint return, you are answering questions about both people as you go through the questions.  Since it already knows you are filing a joint return, if you see something that pertains to one of you, go through that section.  As you are entering the details, pay close attention to the screens because it will ask which person had that type of income.

For example, as you start the W-2 section you will see the message to 'work on John's W-2' or 'work on Jane's W-2'.  That way the program knows whose information is being entered.

The same will be true when you get to the Form 1099-NEC section.
