If you are filing a joint return, you are answering questions about both people as you go through the questions. Since it already knows you are filing a joint return, if you see something that pertains to one of you, go through that section. As you are entering the details, pay close attention to the screens because it will ask which person had that type of income.
For example, as you start the W-2 section you will see the message to 'work on John's W-2' or 'work on Jane's W-2'. That way the program knows whose information is being entered.
The same will be true when you get to the Form 1099-NEC section.
