I was divorced in April of 2016. Can I file separately this year as single? Do I need anything from him as far as info?

You can file as single, or Head of Household if you have a qualifying child living with you. You don't need anything from your ex-spouse, because as of 12/31/2016 you are considered single, and that counts for the entire year.
