I received a 1099 MISC and am considered an independent contractor for my second job. The field is child care for a handicapped child. Does this qualify for QBI?

If you have a 1099-MISC with the amount paid to you reported in box 7 of that form, then as far as the IRS is concerned you earned that money while self-employed and in business for yourself. But it's also possible that the issuer of that form issued you the wrong form and may have been required to issue you a W-2. This is a high possibility if you provided in-home care in the payer's home. See the below IRS website for clarification and information on this.
Again, if you provided the care in the payer's home, then more than likely you should have been treated/designated as a household employee and issued a W-2.
