I'm J-1 holder, but i participated in green card lottery (waiting for the results), can i apply for tax refund using TurboTax? I've contacted Sprintax they said - yes.

If you are a J-1 student and have been in the US less than 5 years or part years,  you need to file a nonresident return with Sprintax.

If you are a J1 student and have been in the US more than 5 years or part years, you will need to file a resident return and can use TurboTax.

Participating in the green card lottery does not make you a resident for US tax purposes.
