I'm filing as head of household (divorced). Software says to qualify for American opportunity Credit, must file as joint but is allowing credit . Seems contrary to rules

The American Opportunity credit is not available to taxpayers filing as Married filing Separately.

It is available to other filing statuses including Head of Household if you otherwise qualify.
