I have used QuickBooks to print out a 1099-MISC for my employee. She is now asking me for 'Copy A' which did not come in the set of 1099 forms that QuickBooks had.

My employee is asking me for Copy A. I have already submitted/ transmitted the forms to the IRS and they were accepted and I have given my employee the forms that I was able to download from Quickbooks. What's with this 'Copy A' I don't have it, but my employee asks for it?

Independent Contractors get 1099-MISC forms not employees. 1099-MISC Copy A is the form sent/e-filed to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Center. Form 1099-MISC Copy B is given to the Recipient.

Maybe she's referring to a W-2. Click on Form W-2.pdf - IRS.
