I got divorced 12/20/2018. Do I file as single or married filing separately?

If you are legally unmarried on the last day of the year, you file as unmarried, even if you were married to for most of the year.

Unmarried means you would file as single, unless you provided care in your home for a child dependent and meet the other qualifications to file as head of household.

I'm on an F1 visa (non-resident). My husband is on an F1 visa (5 years, resident). Can we file as married jointly for FY24? If so, how? Are there tax benefits?
