Have you received your new 6-digit IP PIN to be used in calendar year 2025 for the current 2024 return? I will provide navigation steps below for Online TurboTax. Or did you use desktop TurboTax?
NOTE: Be aware that the IRS doesn't open up to process efiled returns until the last week of January. If you efile now, it will just sit on TurboTax servers, and you will not be able to retrieve it if you discover something you need to change. So be sure you have received all of your W-2's, 1099's, etc. before actually submitting the return.
If you're using Online TurboTax, here are a couple of ways to enter the IP PIN. You only need to use one method. You can choose which method works for you the best.
- With your return interview open, click in the top right on the search icon (magnifying glass.)
- In the search box enter the term IP PIN without quotes. When entering, ignore the dropdown menu, and instead click the small magnifying glass on that same line.
- Then click on the link Jump to IP PIN.
Or here's a second way:
- With your return open, click in the left menu column on TAX TOOLS, then choose TOOLS.
- In the Tools window choose the blue TOPIC SEARCH.
- Enter the term IP PIN without quotes.
- In the selection list highlight IP PIN and click GO.
