I filed an extension last week. Still waiting for an answer. How does it work?

you don't get an answer. it's automatic.  if your due a refund 0 fine.  if you owed you should have paid by 4/15 or requested a payment plan, made an offer in compromise or requested the IRS temporarily delay collection efforts.  

you can go to irs website a get a transcript which will show if IRS got extension.
