You are required to include all of your worldwide income on your Federal income tax. Whether or not you pay tax on that income is another matter, but the income needs to be reported.
You will use Schedule C to report your self-employed income and expenses. If you also performed a similar service for other companies, you can combine all of your income on a single Schedule C instead of reporting each one on its own.
Even though you did not receive an official tax form showing your income, use your own records to determine how much money you made and enter it as 'cash' income on the Schedule C.
Use the following steps to get started with Schedule C:
- On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
- This opens a box where you can type in “schedule c” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
- The search results will give you an option to “Jump to schedule c”
- Click on the blue “Jump to schedule c” link
