If you have not yet filed your tax return you can go back and make the correction by following the steps below:

1.      Open your return in TurboTax. (To do this, sign in to TurboTax, and select the Take me to my return button.)

2.      In the left side bar, select My Info.

3.      On the Personal Summary page, check the pencil icon to change the dependents name.

4.      Follow the onscreen instructions to make the correction.

If you have already submitted your tax return and it is accepted, you should be fine, as long as the Social Security Number and name are correct. That is not something that will affect your tax outcome.

There is no need to amend your return or do anything further.  If your tax return does happen to get rejected for some other reason, you can go back and make the changes and then resubmit your return.
