Assuming date of death is 2020 and filing MFJ, TurboTax can give difficulty in this area. See other threads on this topic.
If you insist on using TurboTax, expect to have to file a paper tax return via US Mail.
If you have a joint bank account, then direct deposit should work.
ignore the xxxx if you e-File successfully, the number will show if you print for mailing.
Thank you. My wife passed away Jan 2021 and I am filing MFJ for 2020. I will file a paper tax return via US Mail using Turbo tax. I do have a joint bank account still open and I did add the direct deposit numbers when I set up to print for US mail.
New Question: What do I need to do to the Turbo tax paper tax return to address my wife's death?
