if this is like a brokerage payment for some reason, special dividend or offer etc, there would have been an interview question whether it was for an "intent to earn income" - say No to that and it will not generate Schedule C for this and it will be reported on Schedule 1 / Form 1040 Line 8. The description doesn't matter I think Schedule 1 defaults to some generic verbiage about 1099-MISC.
Do you have a business or are you self-employed? Your Form 1099-MISC from Morgan Stanley isn't Self-Employment income. Did Morgan Stanley give you some kind of bonus?
If you're not self-employed or have a business, delete the 1099-MISC and enter it under Other Common Income in the Income & Expenses Section. Refer to the TurboTax Help article How do I edit or delete a 1099-MISC? for navigation instructions to delete.
You can enter the income as “Other Income” so it won’t be subject to self-employment taxes. Follow the steps below:
