I am a college student. Should I add that to my tax return somewhere to get a higher tax return?

No, that will not get you a bigger return.  You can list college student as your occupation on page 2 but it will not affect your tax return.  If you are filing and another individual can claim you make sure to check the box "Someone can claim:  You as a dependent".

Don't forget that you may be eligible for educational credits, which vary depending upon your status, undergraduate or graduate, and whether you have used them before.  There are two different credits, the American Opportunity Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit, and they require different qualifications.

If you are a dependent of your parents then only the parents can claim the educational credits, if any.
