If you are your daughter's dependent, but you paid expenses that can claim on a tax return, either you or your daughter can claim them.
If you are your daughter's dependent , it might be better if she claims the expenses. If she itemized (or if your expenses would allow her to itemize), she might get a better refund or owe a lesser amount of tax. On the other hand, they could benefit you also, so the best thing is to test it both ways (you claim OR she claims) and see what result is best.
If you are a dependent, be sure you select "Yes, someone else can claim me" and "Yes, someone else will claim me" in the TurboTax program. Also, make sure ONLY you OR the Taxpayer claiming you claims the expenses.
If you are not a dependent, you would claim them.
