Why would the writers of TurboTax software strike fear in the heart of the user for no reason?! When I entered the distribution amount from my 1099-SA, the running "Federal Tax Due" amount jumped up over $4000! I think everyone who has an HSA account knows that, if you use the account as it was intended, there is no tax on the distribution. Why wait until the next page, where you have one confirm that they used the funds properly, to take the Tax Due amount back down the what it was beforehand? Like, "Just kidding!" 🙂 It should be done the opposite way - increase the Tax Due only after the user says they've spent some funds in non-approved ways.
Idiots! Is your software written by high school students who enjoy sophomoric humor? I am NOT AMUSED!
We've had a good run, Intuit, but I'm going to seriously consider different tax prep software next year.
