How do I get a service code to get the Federal filing for free?

Service codes are provided for specific reasons determined by a specialist. In order to file for free, you must use the Free Edition. I see you are using the Deluxe Edition. You may have upgraded.  The following TurboTax FAQ's will show you how to downgrade if you qualify to use Free.

He's not wanting to go to the Free Edition.   He's wanting to go to Free File.   Therefore the answer is, make sure your AGI is less than $36000 and you have one a simple return.   Be sure not to choose "pay fees with my refund" or "forward any refund to next year."   It will take some back and forth to accomplish this.  Make sure you take the system back through your return starting from the beginning so the system is processing everything and if all is well you will notice this icon on the left.   The system has taken you to Free File automatically.
