How do I file after my return was rejected because I mistakenly said I had ACA insurance?

Return was rejected with Reject Code F8962-070. I put that I had insurance through ACA when I actually got it through the marketplace.

You were correct to say "Yes". If you had insurance through the Marketplace, that is the insurance from ACA, Affordable Care Act. It should have prompted you to enter information from your Form 1095-A to reconcile any Premium Tax Credit on Form 8962.  This is the form in rejection code  F8962-070, so it is looking for information in a 1095-A that matches what the Marketplace at healthcare.gov sent to the IRS.

If you have not received a Form 1095-A by mail,  there is an online copy at Healthcare.gov under tax forms.

Hi TeresaM,

Thanks for answering my question. I'm not sure if I worded it correctly. I checked BCBS (which is who my insurance was through) for the document and they don't have one for me. That made me think that I should've checked NO. I know I started on the ACA Market place but got my insurance through BCBS, does that still mean it's through the ACA?

The ACA Marketplace at healthcare.gov does not provide insurance directly but makes available a variety of policies from different companies. If you found your BCBS policy though the marketplace, then you should have a Form 1095-A in your application information on their website and you might have received Advanced Premium Tax Credit help with the premiums, which needs to be reconciled on the tax return.

It may be easier to call the Marketplace and have them check your account. They can make sure you have the most up to date version of Form 1095-A. They are available at:

1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325)

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except holidays)

It turns out I had to go to the Marketplace website to see my Form 1095-A, not the provider website. Thank you so much for your help, I would not have figured that out without you!
