How do I figure out if I filed independent or dependent?

Look at your tax return form 1040. On the 1040EZ, if you filed as dependent, the You box on line 5 would be checked. On the 1040A or 1040, if you filed as a dependent, the Yourself box on 6a would NOT be checked.
