Help! MA State tax filing with The direct debit option is not available due to your filing choices.

Hi,

Working on finishing up my extensions for Fed and MA.  At almost the last step, I can't proceed with the efiling process.  Owe Fed tax, so I did Direct debit from my bank account -> Schedule your payment -> consent to direct debit -> I agree -> direct debit info page displayed -> how would you like to pay your MA taxes? -> click on Continue -> PLEASE select an option [error message] ---->>> stuck here!

the page has the following message:

Please select an option

The direct debit option is not available due to your filing choices.  [how do I change my filing choices for MA after extension approved?]

The Massachusetts Department of Revenue requires that all taxpayers subject to the 4% surtax must make all payments electronically.

I really want to e-file my extensions before 10/15.  How do I fix this?  I've been on the phone with Product Support for 2 hours and can't get this fix.

Due this "Please select an option" error message, I can't even e-file my Fed extension.

I went to "Your Tax returns and documents" and don't see my 2023 tax return files, it's probably because I have not e-filed my extensions?

What went wrong?

Thanks!
