have personal taxes ready but 1120S is not ready!

Hello,

I have TT Deluxe and I know how much I owe for 2023 taxes.  However I have an S-Corp and my 1120S is not ready.  Typically I submit 1120S with my tax return.  So what is my best path forward?  How do I pay my 2023 taxes due now and then how do I readjust after my 1120S is available?

Is there a way to simply pay the taxes owed (and then some more on top of it) and then file a 1040 when available?

If I merely pay upfront, do I file an extension and then file in one shot?

Your best option is to file your personal Form 1040 tax return now and amend your return once you have Schedule K-1 from the S-Corp. The only reason to request an extension to file would be if you expect to owe no taxes or have a refund from your return. Otherwise, you should pay the tax you know is due now to avoid penalties and interest if you pay later.

If you have an estimate from the S-Corp, add that information to your return before you file. You can always pay more that you owe. But remember that the IRS doesn't pay interest on overpayments.
