Had to Pay to file my State Tax

Why did I have to pay $19.99 to file my NC State Tax when you are advertising FREE FILING for Fed & State Tax?

Unfortunately, when using the desktop editions of TurboTax there is currently a $19.99 fee to e-file a state income tax return.  This fee can be avoided by printing and mailing the state tax return.

May I suggest you do not advertise a free state filing because it is confusing for the clients who e-file  their returns. To me your ad is false advertising.

We do offer the free state filing for the Turbo Tax-free version, however, if you upgrade to a higher version it does specify you will pay a fee for the state return. It also provides the fee on the Turbo Tax website.

Thank you for the answer to my question.  Figured that was the going to be the answer.  Just think this should have been made clear in the advertising, that it was NOT for upgraded versions.  I have been a TurboTax user for many years now and still think it is the best one available.
