Graduate Student Stipend Not Provided Any Forms

Hello, I am a 1st year graduate student. Our university provided us a moving stipend and gave us a W-2 for just the moving stipend, but no other forms for our general stipend. No W-2,1098-T, or 1099. We have been told this stipend is subject to federal taxes, but not local or state taxes. How do I report this income?

You will report it as other wage income. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to federal
  2. Income and expenses
  3. Select or scroll down to Less Common Income
  4. Select Miscellaneous Income
  5. Other income not already reported on W-2
  6. Other wages received
  7. Wages earned as a Household Employee > Leave Blank
  8. Sick or Disability pay > Leave Blank
  9. Any Other Earned Income > Yes
  10. Enter Source of Other Income > Other
  11. Enter the description of stipend and amount
