If you are not able to import your Bank of America IRS forms 1099-R, you may elect to enter the information manually.  Follow these steps.

  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Wages & income.
  • Click the down arrow to the right of Retirement Plans Social Security.
  • Click to the right of IRA 401K Pension Plan Withdrawals.
  • Select Add another 1099-R.
  • At the screen Let's import your tax info, select Change how I enter the form.
  • At the screen How would you like to upload your 1099-R, select Type it in myself.
  • At the screen Who gave you a 1099-R, select the correct distribution.  Select Continue.
  • Continue through the entry screens.

agree with manual entry it's not worth waiting on import at this point, with less than 4 weeks to filing deadline it's time to just type stuff in if import didn't work by now and get thru the rest.  1099-Rs are straightforward to input and there are interview questions about distributions, rollovers etc that the import may not be able to handle anyway.
