FPYMT-071-01

My return was rejected for FPYMT-071-01 - 'RequestedPaymentDt' in the IRS Payment Record must not be more than 5 days prior to the received date.

But I don't know what is wrong with the date. And nothing pops up to fix.

I understand how to change the date with the desktop edition but I need to know what is wrong with the date.

I used the same date of April 12 for the original and the amended returns.

Please Help!

There are some rules that require the payment date to be on or after the receipt of the return date.  Try moving the date back a few days past the filing date to see if that helps.

I hope this helps.

FPYMT-071-01

Hi

I posted this on one of the other threads about the same error.

I've been doing my taxes via TT for several years now. This year, I finished them as usual in mid-Feb. I owe both Federal and CA state taxes, roughly $8000 to Fed and $2000 to CA. I've scheduled payments to be withdrawn from my checking account on April 13. So far, so good.

This year, for the first time I unexpectedly received a K-1 schedule in mid-March AFTER all my other work was completed. So I open up my previous TT files and do a 'Save As...amended' file name. I was able to figure out what needed to be done, and get all the information into TT but now I owe additional amounts to both Fed and State; $86 more to Fed and $26 more to CA.

I e-filed both amended returns for $86 and $26. CA accepted the amended return but Fed did not. I get this same message:

FPYMT-071-01 - 'RequestedPaymentDt' in the IRS Payment Record must not be more than 5 days prior to the received date.

@Cynthiad66 I tried your solution below; I made the payment date April 15, but I still got a 'Rejected' email with the same FPYMT-071-01 error. Any suggestions?

I am using the desktop version and it is fully updated.

If you're okay with the payment being withdrawn on April 15, I would try leaving that payment date blank.  This should have the payment withdrawn on the 15th by default and ought to also clear the error.

Do let us know if this doesn't work!

Thanks @SusanY1 . Yes, I'm Ok with 4/15 as the withdraw date. On the 'How do you want to pay your Federal Taxes' screen I tried leaving the date blank.  2 screens later on the 'Review your Federal filing choices' screen there's a message in bold red letters  Withdrawal date has not been set. I cannot continue to the next screen screen.

If I go back and put in the withdrawal date as 4/15, I can continue. But then I'll get the same FPYMT-071-01 error.

Any suggestions?

Any updates from the TT folks? I re-filed again today with a withdrawal date of 4/15 and I got the email back (again) that it was rejected. I also tried again with a blank withdrawal date and got the same error, Withdrawal date has not been set.

Any help would be appreciated

John

Did you get a fix for this? I'm having the same issue doing an amended return this month for 2023 that I originally e-filed in Feb of 2024. No matter what date I put it for them to debit my account, I keep getting the same FYPMT-071-01 message stating the message about the date on the rejection of my amended e-file.

FPYMT-071-01

I don't believe that TT ever fixed the error message.

I had to go back and look at my bank statement. CA withdrew State taxes on 4/15 including the amended deduction. The IRS took the first deduction on 4/15 and the amended deduction on 4/17.  So it looks like they withdrew  regardless of TT error messages. No harm done.

Hope that helps
