form 5119 to refund tax paid to wrong city.

My employer W2 form paid detroit mi city tax but I don't work or live  in Detroit. how do I get the money back that's already been paid  to city.. employer said file form 5119 there it  says file 5121. so confusing. employee did not issue a corrected w2 but only changed box 20 to read LMI2301 instead of Detroit.

You will file Form 5119, the nonresident tax return for Detroit since you do not live in the city.  You will only also include Form 5121 if you have more than eight (8) W-2s with Detroit withholding.
