Form 1099-R dated calendar year 2017, do I claim on my 2016 taxes?

If box 7 includes code P, it must be reported on your 2016 tax return by entering the 2017 Form 1099-R into 2016 TurboTax and indicating in the follow-up that it is a 2017 Form 1099-R.

Otherwise, it's reportable on your 2017 tax return.
