Every year my tax return is taken for student loans. I was told because of the Coronavirus it wouldnt happen this year. Does anyone know if there is truth to this?

that is true - it was part of the CARES ACT signed a few weeks back. The only garnishment will be for back child support.

As @NCperson noted, your stimulus payment will not be garnished for student loans. However, any offsets outstanding will still garnish refunds related to your 2019 tax return.
