Filed a tax return and applied 2023 refund to 2024 estimated payments. Then when amending tax return, it properly indicates that more taxes are owed. Problem with Turbo Tax, it not only wants me to pay more taxes for 2023 to IRS but is also reducing the amount applied to 2024 estimated tax payment.
Turbo Tax should only do one of the above:
1. Have person pay the additional $$ owed to the IRS for 2023 and keep the original refund (higher one) applied to 2024 estimated taxes or
2. No additional payment due (since refund was never going be paid) and only reduce the amount of refund to the correct amount for the 2024 estimated tax payments.
Of the 2 options above, #2 is the best method. But Turbo Tax uses both, therefore, double dipping!
