Do i need to correct a last name?

I helped my elderly Mom complete her tax return and accidently typed my last name instead of hers.

Yes, The tax return will be rejected.

One of the first security checks that the IRS makes is to match the last name of the tax filler with their Social Security number.

If they don't match the return will be rejected.
