Dependents and Disability payments

I am on permanent disability and receive monthly payments from the government. As part of this declaration, my husband receives a stipend per month for living expenses and we also receive one per child (all under the age of 18y).  The payments come as direct deposits but we receive a 1099 for each family member.

My question is: Do we have to file our “income” received for our dependents as well and just add it to my husband’s?  Or do we not file because they are not old enough to file yet for taxes at this time?

If the 1099-MISC is issued in the name of the child, the child may need to file.

Start a tax return for the child in TurboTax Free and it will tell you if they need to file, or you can use the IRS Free File.
