dependent/medical expenses/1095-A

Hi,

I am looking at claiming my bf as a dependent as he had $0 income last year.

If I do this, do I enter his medical expenses with mine? And just add his 1095-A as a second form in that section?

Also, with $0 income does he need to file a return? I'm guessing not as all his info would be on my return.

Sorry one last question:  If I do this could I be held responsible for his bills in the future?

Yes, you can enter his 1095-A information on your return if you claim him as a dependent.  If he had no income and you claim him as a dependent, he would not be required to file his own tax return.

You would not be responsible for his tax liability if he is just a dependent on your return, other than if there is a payback required for the Advanced Premium Tax Credit.  Because you are claiming him as a dependent, you would be responsible if he is found ineligible.
