I have two daughters a 12 and 15 year old, they were born abroad I recently claimed them in 2021, both have valid SSN. Filed 2018,2019 and 2020.They were not accepted on my 2018 tax return under the argument that their social was given in 2021. Now it turns out I owe taxes a penalty fee and all the crédits were taken off my tax return. How is this posible?
Now I am worried for 2019 and 2020. Apperently it seems I won't get a refund for that year.
2019 was filed on time and submitted an amended return. Will the same thing happen.

Yes, the return will be rejected.
The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes or PATH Act made several changes to the tax law, including preventing retroactive claims of the EITC and CTC by amending a return or filing an original return for any earlier year in which the individual or anyone listed on the return did not have a SSN valid for employment. You can't claim EITC or CTC unless the Social Security number for you, your spouse (if married filing a joint return), or a qualifying child is issued before the due date of the return including any valid extensions.
Will the same happen for this years return filed?
No, this will not happen this year if you have social security numbers for your daughters before the due date to file your tax return.
