If this amount was paid by FEMA or another aid agency, it is not taxable.

Thank you!  The 1250. was fed gov grant and is included on 1098-T on line 5.  So can I just subtract that 1250. from there or do I need to fill out something else.  TT didn’t have a section to include that my grandson was in evac area.  Or did I miss that?

The grant reported on the 1098-T is a scholarship. If it only covers tuition then it is not taxable.

Cape Fear shows that amt included in box 5.  But on their online account it specifies it is Emergency hurricane grant.  It was then sent to my grandson as a refund , TT shows it as income(?). Not used as tuition but evacuation from area.  Therefore taxable?
