Can you revoke permission for the “ Let us use your tax info to improve your experience” form at the end of the return?

No, you would need to clear your return and start over.   But you have already been presented with all the offers tailored to your tax situation.   If you re-do the return, you will still get offers, they just won't be specific to your tax situation.   So, that is most likely, a waste of time.    When you agree to the sharing of info, you are getting personalized ad offers as opposed to general ads that may not be relevant to you.

BEFORE you agree:  Right now, we can only use your tax info to help you prepare and file your return, but we can do a lot more. We’re asking your permission to let us:

  • Work smarter by showing you only offers that are relevant based on your tax situation
  • Help you file faster by streamlining some of the legal consent experiences we show you
  • Provide you with the highest level of service we offer by personalizing your experience based on your tax situation
  • Help you apply for offers and services you’re interested in, like Credit Karma Money and Refund Advance, by pre-filling your application using info from your tax return

If you don’t agree, we’ll still help you prepare and file your taxes to get you your best tax outcome, guaranteed. The difference is you’ll probably see additional offers and things that may not make sense for your tax situation along the way.

For example, we might show you options for how to get your refund, even if you’re not getting a refund. This is because without your permission, we can’t look at whether you owe taxes or are getting a refund when it comes to offering you services like Refund Advance or Credit Karma Money.

How long is my consent good for?

Great question! Your agreement is good for three years from the date you sign, and it only applies to info included in this year’s tax return.

Why do you need my permission?

In the US, federal law requires TurboTax to get your consent before using or sharing tax return information for purposes other than preparing and filing your taxes. Even if this wasn’t the law, we believe in protecting your data and privacy, so it just makes sense to be fully transparent about how your data is used.
