You said "email", but we're presuming that was a typo and that you meant "efile."
You didn't mention anything about your Federal return. Did you already prepare and efile a Federal return using TurboTax? You can efile a state return either at the same time as the Federal return, or it can be efiled after the Federal return was efiled first, as long as the efiled Federal return has been accepted.
So if you efiled your 2023 Federal return previously, and it was accepted, you can open up your return interview and efile the state return. If that's your situation, here's how:
- Log in and at the Tax Home, look for a link "Add a State." That will open your return interview back up.
- Do not make changes in your Federal return if it's already been filed.
- In the left menu column, go to the State Taxes tab, then go through the state return interview.
- When finished, run the Review to see if there are any errors.
- Then go to the FILE tab to choose to efile the return and answer any other screens you encounter.
- Be sure you go all the way to the end to a screen with a big orange button "Transmit Return Now" and click that.
